Amiry & Gilbride Healthcare Limited enters administration. Discover how the Scottish pharmacy chain plans to remain open during the sale process.
The holding company for Amiry & Gilbride Pharmacy has entered administration, though its 15 Scottish outlets remain fully operational during a planned sale.
Future of Scottish Pharmacy Chain Under Review
The holding company behind a prominent Scottish pharmacy chain has officially entered administration. Amiry & Gilbride Healthcare Limited appointed joint administrators from BDO LLP on April 29. Despite this financial shift, all 15 outlets across Scotland continue to operate as normal.
The group consists of 13 pharmacies and two specialized retail units. These entities are managed by two subsidiary companies. Notably, these subsidiaries have not entered administration themselves. This structure allows the Scottish pharmacy chain to maintain its daily services without interruption.
New Governance for Amiry & Gilbride
Administrators have established a new governance structure for the business. John Gilbride and his experienced management team will now direct operations. They aim to stabilize the group’s financial position quickly. Furthermore, the administrators intend to sell the entire group via a formal marketing process.
This independent, family-run business began its current form in 2023. At that time, the owners acquired various pharmacies from a large corporation. Because the current outlets remain profitable, the administrators are seeking interested buyers immediately.
The Scottish pharmacy chain currently operates its head office in Glasgow. It remains a vital provider of prescriptions and travel clinic services. Consequently, the joint administrators encourage potential investors to make contact without delay. Therefore, patients can expect continued care while the sale process moves forward.
